Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Your journey starts and ends in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. You can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport. One of our representatives will pick you up at the airport driving you to your hotel.
Have some rest and pack earlier for the next day. You can leave additional belongings in the hotel. Pack up all the required equipment, including trekking gear, warm clothing, daily necessities, paperwork, and other necessary things.
Day 2: Flight to Lukla
Next morning, after having breakfast, you will leave for Lukla (2840 m). The flight will be 35 minutes long. Reaching Lukla, you will meet your porter, who helps you with your baggage. The trek officially starts.
You leave Lukla following a straightforward trail along the Dudh Koshi River. The route connects to Namche Bazaar just above Chaurikharka. Your trek continues till you come across a small village of Ghat. Then, after a while, you will reach Phakding, the night stay for day 2.
Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar
The next morning, after breakfast, you leave for Namche Bazaar (3440 m), following the trail along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing the suspension bridge along the way. During the hike, you encounter Sagarmatha National Park, where you have to go through entry permit verification.
Then, you will ascend a steep climb, viewing the Himalayas, glacier rivers, and multi-colored prayer flags. Finally, after 5-6 hours of trek, you reach the mesmerizing Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, the trading point of this region. Your night stay will be in Namche Bazaar. You can enjoy the evening market here.
Day 4: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar, Hike to Hotel Everest View
Altitude Sickness is a common health issue one can suffer at high altitudes. To prevent it, you need to acclimatize. Now that you reach Namche Bazaar, you need an acclimatization for your body to adapt to a higher altitude, by hiking up to the nearest destination.
The nearest destination from Namche Bazaar is Hotel Everest View (3880 m). On the way to this view point, you can see a cultural museum filled with history of ancient people. You then hike up to Syangboche Airport (only airport at highest peak) and finally to Hotel Everest View (only hotel at highest peak).
This trek takes 4-5 hours leading you to the best view points. You get to see magnificent mountains such as Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse. After the greatest view, you head back to Namche Bazaar and you are done for the day.
Day 5: Trek to Tengboche
Next morning, you trek to Tengboche. The rocky trail starts which descends in the early phase and climbs up to Tengboche. Advancing along Dudh Koshi river, sighting the mountains along the way, you reach Phungi Thega passing through beautiful Rhododendron forests.
After trekking for 5-6 hours, you finally reach Tengboche with the majestic view of mountains, glaciers, and monasteries. You can visit Tengboche Monastery at the end of this village and find peaceful vibes seeing Lamas performing a prayer ceremony. The divine feeling you get in this monastery is magical.
Day 6 : Trek to Dingboche
Next morning after breakfast in Tengboche, you pass through alpine forest crossing Imja Khola via suspension bridge ascending all the way up to Pengboche enjoying walls inscribed with stones and the view of Ama Dablam.
Then following the trail leading to Imja Valley you finally arrive at Dingboche (4410 m). Your night stay will be at Din
Day 7: Acclimatization in Dingboche, Hike to NangkartShang Peak and back
You are already at an altitude of 4410 m in Dingboche. So, before further ascending, you need another acclimatization in Dingboche, hiking the nearest destination from Dingboche; Nangkartshang Peak (5083 m).
This hike takes 4-5 hours witnessing the view of Ama Dablam from the peak, and then back to Dingboche. After acclimatization, you can explore the village of Dingboche, enjoy the view, and relax. You will be staying in Dingboche tonight as well.
Day 8: Trek to Lobuche
Next morning, you leave Dingboche and start climbing to Thukla with sight of Taboche and Cholatse. You pass through the trail of lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier and stone memorials; in the memory of departed souls of climbers adorned by colorful prayers.
Finally you hike up to Lobuche (4910 m) after a 5-6 hours of walking journey. After reaching Lobuche, enjoy the views of mountains from a close up. You will be staying here tonight.
Day 9: Trek to Base Camp and back to Gorak Shep
On Day 9, you ascend to your final destination; Everest Base Camp (5164 m). The trek lasts 8-9 hours long making it the longest trek during the whole journey. After leaving Lobuche, you hike along the Khumbu glacier with the view of Mt. Nuptse to reach Gorak Shep.
Your trek continues to Everest Base Camp overcoming the challenging rugged terrains, with the view of Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall. Finally, you are now at the base of Mount Everest. Adore every moment and feel it. Then you go back to Gorak Shep.
Day 10: Hike to Kala Patthar and descend to Pheriche
Next day, you will be hiking up to the highest point of Everest Base Camp; Kala Patthar (5555 m) for the most elegant view of sunrise through the giant mountain, Mount Everest. Enjoy this moment to the fullest. Capture the beauty of the lap of himalayas.
After that you descend down to Gorak Shep following the same route you came, you will descend to Pheriche Village which takes 7- 8 hours. Enjoy every moment once again as your journey is about to end. You will be staying in Pheriche tonight.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar
After having breakfast in Pheriche, you will leave for Namche Bazaar. During your journey you come across Pangboche, Tengboche, suspension bridge, enter the forest trail until you reach Namche Bazaar.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla
This is the final day of the trek. After breakfast in Namche Bazaar, you trek to Lukla. It takes 6-7 hours to reach Lukla. Enjoy your final day in the lap of himalayas. Enjoy as much as you can, go through all your memories, breathe the fresh air of himalayas one last time. Have a local cuisine for one last time.
Day 13: Flight back to Kathmandu
Next day bidding farewell to the himalayan region, and porter you take your flight with your guide back to Kathmandu. During the flight, enjoy our country’s view from the airway. After arriving in Kathmandu, the guide will take you back to the hotel where you stayed at the very beginning. You will be staying in your hotel tonight.
Day 14: Departure to your place
Next day, you will be taken to the airport for your final departure to your respective country. Bidding farewell to Nepal, we hope you will visit again.
Best Time to Visit Everest Base Camp Trek
Trekking Everest Base Camp is possible throughout the year amidst its altitude. The best time to trek Everest Base Camp is Autumn (September – November) and Spring (March – May).
Autumn and Spring are the most comfortable and coziest seasons to trek Everest Base Camp. Autumn has a moderate temperature, neither cold nor hot, with vivid views of landscapes and mountains.
Spring has a moderate climate with little rain, but the trail is ideal for walking with the best views. It is the season of bloom; you get to see blooming rhododendrons along the way.
Whereas summer has the highest temperature, more downpours, leading to slippery roads and landslides are dangerous. Winter is very cold in this high altitude, letting the temperature fall up to -17 degrees, which is intolerable.
The best part about Summer and Winter is the less crowded due to weather conditions, which is more peaceful than in peak seasons with lots of people. If you prefer true adventure, then Summer and Winter are more suitable.
Trek Difficulty
The weather at Everest Base Camp depends on the season. The most suitable season for trekking is Autumn and Spring. Autumn starts in the month of September and ends in the month of November. Spring starts from the month of march and ends at the month of may.
During Autumn, the temperature is very moderate unlike winter with extreme coldness. During winter many places are not allowed to enter due to safety reasons. During Spring, the temperature is warm, no downpours, leading to the best path without slippery trails.
Without Guide and Porter
A guide is a person who is a certified professional with previous trekking experience and a license. They will help you with the permits, tickets, and hotels and ensure your health condition during the trek. As altitude sickness is most probable in the high altitude region, having a guide makes you feel safe.
It is better to hire a local guide because a local guide is very familiar with the culture and traditions of this region. They also know all the teahouses and their owners, making it easier for night stays. Booking a room is quite difficult so having a local guide beside you helps to ease this difficulty.
A porter will help you carry your baggage, build tents, and cook food. The guide and porter are both necessary for a journey to be fun. They will be very helpful for our knowledge and health as well.
